Yamie Fiestada, with 3 other model deaf students of De la Salle University – College of St. Benilde (DLSU-CSB), will soon fly to South Korea for a cultural exchange program. Sponsored by the Korean Employment Agency for the Disabled (KEAD), this will run from February 13-18, 2011, at the Ilsan Vocational Competency Development Center (IVCDC). CSB’s School for Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS) will field four deaf young people, 1 deaf adviser and 2 hearing Faculty Chaperons to complete their 6-man team.

Yamie is among the 11 PWD exchange students sent under the American Field Service-Youth Exchange Scholarship (AFS-YES) and has since showed exemplary academic and social skills. Those and her positive outlook probably qualified her to be considered as one of DLSU-CSB’s model students and a capable young cultural ambassador for the country.
